FREE - "MY ENERGY CAPACITY METER" guide
Our hearts are heavy for the loss of the Clune family earlier this year. Our thoughts remain with their family and friends, the Mosman Park community and the entire Australian autism community. This is a devastating reminder of the silent, overwhelming pressures that families with autistic children face—and a tragedy we never want to see happen again.
When parents and carers are experiencing moments of deep sensory or emotional burnout /crisis, the ability to speak or process verbal language can completely shut down. When everything becomes too difficult and words fail entirely, having a non-verbal way to signal for help can be a critical circuit breaker.
Please consider using MY ENERGY & CAPACITY METER guide, which has been developed from personal experiences, with three children, including two on the spectrum, and from supporting other families under pressure.
Please don't wait for the breaking point.
If you are a parent or carer living with an autistic child: Keep this
guide on your fridge or wall. It will help you have a pathway to options of what you need, even when you can't find the words to speak or talk over the phone.
If you know an autism family or a loved one under stress: Share this with them. Have it ready in your own home or when you visit them. A person in need can point to a column, tap a section, or circle it with a dry-erase marker to instantly signal their status without needing to speak—so you know exactly how to step in when the meter turns to Orange, Red, or Black.
We have to look out for one another and build the strength within our community to prevent tragedies before they happen.
